More Yellowknife - Sunday, Monday and home

On Sunday, we decided to walk for Alexa's morning nap. It worked so well for her Saturday afternoon nap that we thought we would repeat the process. We packed up and were on our way by 10:15AM. The plan was that Ashley would show me around the city.

We didn't count on the fact that nothing is open on a Sunday morning in Yellowknife. Many places are closed entirely and the places that are open don't open until noon.

So we went to the coffee shop and then off for another nice little hike behind the legislature buildings (you can see them on the left side of the second picture).

Ashley on the trail.

We arrived back at the Visitor's Centre just before noon. They were lovely and let us in early so that we could look at the exhibits and wander around. The Visitor's Centre staff cemented my opinion that everyone in Yellowknife (with the exception of the first cabby and the drunk in the bank lobby) is super-friendly.

Ashley and Alexa had some final cuddles. Alexa really warmed up to Ashley towards the end of the week (hooray!!!).

On Sunday night, we went back to Ashley's school so that she could get a few things ready for Monday, and so that we could leave the class with a final message.

Her students are adorable, and I was so happy to be able to get to know them. I loved visiting her class every day.

Alexa played in the classroom, and then stood up holding onto a chair and scooted it across the whole room, using it like a walker.

On Monday morning, we woke up to another dark morning. This is another morning series from Ashley's balcony.

Our flight home left just after 1:30 PM. We had another short turnaround in Edmonton (this time I didn't forget anything on the place). With the time change, we were on the ground just after 9:00PM, and then HOME!!!

We were both really happy to see Jevon/Daddy again.

And while we were away, he did this:

Brand new floor! With a little help from some friends and family. It looks GORGEOUS.
