We arrived on Monday (documented in the previous post). On Tuesday, we saw Ashley off to work and had a nice quiet time at the apartment in the morning. We went to her school in the afternoon. Her kids were super excited to see us.
They had a special guest in to teach them yoga. They're all learning how to "belly breathe" here by feeling their heads rise and fall as their neighbour breathes in and out.
We hung around in the classroom for a while and visited before heading back to the apartment for Alexa's afternoon nap. Ashley had tried to babyproof as much as possible before we got there, but Alexa is an expert at finding cords and electronics.
Alexa playing in Ashley's living room. Slightly more babyproofed now.
Wednesday morning, we woke up to a gorgeous sunrise. This is the lovely view from Ashley's balcony. Actually, we woke up to pitch dark. The gorgeous sunrise came later...
Tired baby in front of a sunrise.
... sunrise came at 8:46, to be exact. Over the week that we were in Yellowknife, the amount of daylight reduced by an hour.
More babyproofing! I found Alexa eating this lovely pin needle after her morning nap.
After morning nap, I bundled Alexa up to go back to the school. Hat and mitts courtesy of Auntie Ange and boots courtesy of Auntie Em.
At the school, we went with Ashley's class on a class trip to the fire hall. The kids asked Fire Chief Gerta if she could give a fire hat to Alexa. She LOVED her hat!
Ashley came home after work to have babytime cuddles. Alexa wasn't too sure about Ashley for much of the week, and would only cuddle and play on her own terms. Funny little monkey.
Thursday morning, we had more fun play time in Ashley's apartment.
On Thursday afternoon, we went to the school in time for the class's Weledeh language class. Weledeh is the dialect of Dogrib that is/was spoken in Ndilo (the community where Ashley teaches).
After school, Ashley brought her friend, Jessica, and Jess's baby Ember over for dinner. Jessica and Ember are the ones who loaned us the playpen, highchair, toys & books for the week.
Ember kept trying to pull Alexa onto her lap and show her a book. Alexa was not pleased, but it was adorable!
The babies wanted to play with each others' sippy cups.
After enough sippy cup play time, Alexa was covered in water, so I stripped her down to her diaper to continue playing.
On Thursday night, Ashley, Alexa and I went to a jewellery party with Ashley's friends. Alexa was very good at the party. I left early to go put her to bed but we had fun there.

Great trip! Ok, third picture from the bottom, does Alexa's bib say Ange??? Because if it does, that's really funny!
Close... it says "tiny angel".
