Local gems

The past few days have been cold and wet and miserable, but last weekend was lovely and sunny and warm. We spent nearly the whole weekend outside.

On Saturday, we only came inside to eat lunch and put Mia down for her nap. The girls played on their bikes, and the pup was very excited when we took him back to the dog park (it was finally no longer a skating rink nor a mud pit). There is a fairly new big circle of large rocks at the entrance to the park. Alexa loves to climb the rock and jump off them, and this time, Mia got into the spirit of it, too.

Then we got into the park proper, and Douggie raced and raced and raced around. The girls had lots of fun running around and up and down the hills too.

Once Doug had a really good run and some play time with the other dogs, we went into the playground area. Alexa was insistent that the weather was nice enough to have bare feet in the sand box. I didn't fight it. She got cold. Everyone was happy.
Despite the lack of wheels, Mia pushed this around for ages.

Socks and boots back on, Alexa had fun on the motorcycle.

This is my favourite picture of the whole weekend. It is perfect.
I don't know that I have ever seen the playground that busy before. I think every parent in a 12-block radius was going stir crazy and had their kids out.

Mia was a bit of a going concern at the playground and attempted to climb UP the slides. It was a good day.

On Sunday morning, we got up and got right out and headed down to the Don Valley trails. We took the subway to get there, which really excited Alexa. She LOVES going on the trains.

The trails were quite busy, everyone was glorying in the sunshine.
Mia wanted to walk, so Jevon ended up pushing an empty stroller for a while.

Alexa had a great time chucking sticks and rocks into the Don River.

Alexa's thrown sticks and rocks attracted the attention of a friend.
We're sure it was used to being fed and was looking for food.

On the walk home, Alexa went into the stroller and Mia fell asleep on my shoulder. We stopped for pizza slices on the way home, and as soon as we got in the door, both girls went down for naps. It was Alexa's first nap in months. She was SO tired!
