After Mia's morning nap, we went to a brunch birthday party for the girls' friend Bennett. It was a really nice party. The craft was cookie decorating, which THRILLED Alexa. She loved it. At the party, we heard that our friends Jen & Wil have a roof that needed some patching. Jevon volunteered, so after the party, we packed up the girls and went to Jen and Wil's house.
We got there after Mia's normal afternoon nap time. I tried to put Mia down and Jen tried to put Liam down and the overtired duo had a scream-off.
Mid scream-off, I brought Mia upstairs for a quick change of scenery. She seemed to know she was losing the scream-off, and she gave up and went to sleep quite quickly after this. She fell asleep and Liam won the scream-off (which, I guess, means that his mom lost), but in the end both of them did quiet down.
While the babies were napping, Alexa biked around the driveway, and then had a long conversation with some sticks from the garden, telling them all about spring. Then we went inside and she decorated Liam's cookies from the party. She was having so much fun that Jen let her decorate some cookies they had in their cupboards, too.
When Mia and Liam woke up, we got them ready for a run to the grocery store. Here, I distracted Liam with my phone while Jen got the baby backpack ready.
Alexa in the stroller. Can you find her?
Back at home, the kids explored Liam's toys.
The girls love Liam's toys, but Liam was tired of his own toys, so he explored the kitchen cupboards instead.
Mia and Liam started out playing together with his balloon from the party...
Liam wasn't so sure when Mia took control of the balloon...
And then he lost his mind when she grabbed it...
...paused for a second to examine her victory...
... and ran! She broke his poor little heart. I gave it back to him, but she just grabbed it again, so I ended up putting it out of sight.
Once the balloon was out of sight, he forgave her. They had fun playing on either side of the door while Alexa played some more with sticks and Jen bar-be-queued the burgers.
"Look at my Lambie hat!"
Mia was very happy to see her daddy when he came down from the roof. It took longer than they expected, but hopefully it won't rain in their hallway if tomorrow's forecasted rain arrives.
