A week-and-a-half ago, we went to Toronto Island to watch uncle Dean's dragonboat races. The brilliant minds at the TTC decided that it was the perfect weekend to shut down the subway for track repairs. The weekend with the dragonboat races, the Bollywood festival and the JazzFest. Really???
We ended up taking the subway until Pape (where it was shut down), walking for two stops, taking a shuttlebus for two stops, taking another subway, then walking again down to the ferry. The line for tickets was huge, but after we finally got our tickets, we got on the very first ferry that we saw. Hooray!
It was a 2.5 hour trek, but Alexa and her mummy and daddy finally arrived at the Island. We caught up with the Lising cousins at Centre Island. Big cousins Jack and Ollie went on some rides and then we went back to the dragonboat area to watch uncle Dean's last race.
Uncle Dean with cousins Jack and Ollie in the swan boat.
Joe, being carried by his mum in the sling. He's looking so big these days.
All the handsome Lising cousins.
Joey in his stroller. We stayed with Joey and Jack while Auntie Em and Ollie went on a ride together.
Jack, racing around.
Joey was very interested in my camera. I was holding him in the sling and he was reaching for it.
This is the ride that Em and Ollie went on. There was almost no safety gear on the ride and Emily had quite it the grip on her little guy the whole time.
Babes on a blanket.
Daddy was cuddling his girl while Joey and Jack climbed on their uncle.
This mother duck and ten ducklings swam right in front of us.
A blanket full of cute. Uncle Dean joined us when he was finished his races.
After a busy day, we decided not to brave the massive ferry line and took a water taxi home. It was much faster and a nice little adventure. The water taxi is a pontoon boat. We pushed the strollers right on and drove back home.
Joey modelled his new lifejacket on the water taxi ride home.
Alexa stayed in her stroller.
I love this view of my city.
