Fox Lake Fun

Last week, Alexa and I needed to escape the heat. Just 14 hours after we got back from Sauble Beach, Alexa and I were waiting for the Ontario Northland train up to Huntsville. Auntie Ange picked us up at the train station and took us out to Grammie and Opa's blessedly cool house.

Ontario Northland doesn't charge for infants, but Alexa still got her own ticket!

Auntie Em and her crew had gone home for swimming lessons, but Auntie Ange, Uncle Geoff, cousins Charlie and Sam and Mummy's Auntie Barb were all at Grammie and Opa's house to play with Alexa.

Upon arrival, Auntie Barb got some lovely welcome cuddles.

Grammie and Opa's neighbours came over to play with Charlie and Sam. Sammy and the girls had a lovely time playing in the clay.

Charlie entertained Alexa on Grammie's pontoon boat.

While the kids were playing, we had a little visitor.

Auntie Ange and Alexa had some good cuddles with the best toy ever - a glasses case (nothing but the most expensive toys for my girl).

Charlie supervised as Alexa sat on her own! She's not super steady, but she can stay up if there is someone to stand by when she topples over.

Alexa gave up on sitting up and dove for Mummy's camera.

Charlie is getting to be quite the photographer, and took this shot of Mummy and Alexa.

We brought the jolly jumper and the cousins took turns entertaining Alexa while she jumped. Sammy sat for a very long time with her and told her all sorts of good stories.

At dinner, Grammie gave Alexa her water glass to play with. Alexa loved drinking it and playing with it. She showed off her first little temper tantrum when Grammie finally took the glass away. It was pretty funny because she's so little, but we'll have to watch out for that temper so that it doesn't become a problem later.

Uncle Geoff had lots of cuddles for Alexa.

When Alexa got hot and fussy, Geoff put her in a nice cool bath to get her ready for bed-time.

(Left to right) Charlie, Alexa, Mummy and Sam swimming in the "deep end" of the lake. I had a pretty firm grip on Alexa, who LOVED swimming in Fox Lake. I found that when I supported myself on two "bonks" (pool noodles), I felt really steady and secure. I also felt secure with one "bonk" and with Alexa in Joey's life jacket.

Charlie took several photos of Alexa while she played on Grammie's boat.

Self-portrait that Charlie took of himself and the babe.

Mummy and Alexa in the shallow water. She loved splashing and jumping.

We came home at the end of the day on Thursday, and Daddy was super-excited to see his little girl again. We had so much fun in Fox Lake, but we did miss him.
