In mid-April, Alexa came down with pneumonia. It was terrifying. She woke up one night at 1:00 AM with a high fever. Jevon and I gave her some baby Tylenol and then stayed up until 2:30, in a state of high anxiety over our babe. After that, Alexa was up very frequently until morning. By dawn, we were all exhausted!
In the morning, I took her into the Emerg department at Toronto East General, and we were treated very well. I have never had such a good experience in an emergency department before. After a thorough examination, including a chest x-ray, she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Poor little baby.
Thankfully, we caught it early and she got better quickly. The doctor said that they would have admitted her to the hospital if she had been any smaller or any sicker. I'm glad we avoided that!
Apparently, it is very easy for a baby to get pneumonia. Any sinus cold can travel up into the ears or down into the lungs.
I was so relieved when she was feeling better.
Thankfully, she was all better in time for her Huntsville shower at the end of April. Grammie's ladies held a shower for Alexa and me. I thought this was a brilliant idea, because all of the ladies could meet Alexa (and Joey) at the shower.
Auntie Em, Grammie, Joey, Alexa and I trotted off to the shower on a lovely morning. We were served lots of goodies and some non-alcoholic mimosas.
Several of the ladies pooled together to buy us Alexa's beautiful highchair. It was shipped to our house just before the shower, and I was able to take some pictures and show them around to the ladies who bought it.
A very exciting package arrived at the door!
Daddy set up the highchair, and we put one very small baby into it. She might need to grow into it...
Side view! It reclines or sits up straighter.
I didn't actually take any pictures at the shower. I was too busy being "showered". We received loads of lovely gifts.
The rest of the weekend, we lounged around Huntsville. It was a beautiful weekend.
Jack and Ollie with Opa on the ATV.
Jack, being cute and leaping over the flower beds.
Jack and Opa were on the ATV and Opa let Jack steer for a little bit. Exciting stuff!!!
What a lovely summery scene. Alexa lounging in the shade, and everyone else enjoying the sunshine.
Auntie Em and Uncle Dean took a turn on the ATV.
Babies under the sunshade. It was too hot for the dress and tights, but Joey kept cool in a pair of light linen pants. Linen pants!!! What a stylish baby.
Mummy took a turn on the ATV. The only ones who didn't were Daddy (he was napping) and Grammie (she was looking after the babies).
And lastly, a montage of Grammie in her cuddling, loving element.
