What just happened??? (I'm not complaining)

We had a very confusing (but good) night last night.

We decided to brave going out to Wil's surprise 30th birthday party. Poor Wil was depressed that no one remembered his 30th birthday, and that no one was available to come out with him that night. He was suitably impressed when he saw all of us there waiting for him. The party was a definite surprise.

The dinner started at 8:00 PM and a live band was arriving sometime after 10:00, so we didn't want to stay much past 10. Alexa has been super fussy lately between about 8:00 and 11:00 PM, so we knew that it was a risk and that we might be staying for a very short time.

When we got there, she fussed a little bit, so Terri cuddled her. Then, it was Jen's turn for a nice long cuddle. I fed her around 9:30, and Faith got a little cuddle before we headed home at 10. Alexa did really well in the noisy pub, and we were really pleased that we got to stay for a couple of hours.

Alexa screamed for much of the drive home, so we were pretty sure that we were in for a wakeful evening.

When we got home, we put her in her chair for a minute. She fell asleep, so we decided to watch a little TV until she woke up. Jevon fell asleep in the chair and I fell asleep on the couch. Around midnight, Jev woke me up and we put Alexa in her bed. We figured that we might get a little nap before she woke up to nurse. She didn't wake up.

At 4:30 AM - a full SEVEN hours after her last meal - Alexa woke up wanting to nurse.

Seven hours. She slept for FIVE of them.

I'm not sure what we did right. But I'm not complaining! Four solid hours of sleep for me, and I'm a much happier Mummy.

Today has been a more typical day (and evening), so I'm not anticipating a repeat. But I'm very thankful for last night.

Faith - last night was a relatively good night too. Not as spectacular as the night before, but still one of her best. I think it MUST have been your pep talk.
