Home Show, Raptors, and visits

I meant to write this post all week, and somehow I'm just getting to it a week later. I'm not sure why, but this week was exhausting. I barely had time to clean up the dinner dishes at night before crashing, so any sort of creative writing felt beyond me. I let Jevon sleep in yesterday, and he returned the favour this morning. I finally feel normal again.

This week, Mia has been more of a climber than ever. Up until now, we've kept the dining room chairs pushed in to the table so that she can't climb up on them. If we ever forget to do so, she's up on them in a flash.

Well, this week, we found her in her highchair twice without knowing how she got there. By watching, we realized that she has learned that she can crawl around the chair legs to get under the table, and that from under the table, she can push the chairs out enough to climb up them. From there, it's a quick dash on the chairs, on the table, and into her highchair. We think it's time to graduate MiaGyver to a booster seat, as it's a shorter fall from booster-to-ground than highchair-to-ground (should her climbing skills fail her).

Alexa had a pretty good week, although she wasn't feeling well on Thursday and was a little limp couch potato for a bit. I find it amazing how little kids can get so sick so fast, and then get so healthy again in a matter of hours. By Friday, she was totally normal and running around like nothing had happened.

Now, for our weekend last weekend (and the requisite cute pictures that I know you're all really here for).

Last weekend (Friday night), my University roommate, Cam, came to visit us with his wife (Lana) and adorable new baby, Lucas. Cam and Lana live in Edmonton, so we barely ever see them, and it was so lovely to catch up. Unfortunately, I was so busy visiting and cuddling that cute baby that I didn't get any pictures of him. You'll just have to believe me when I say he's lovely.

On Saturday, we ended up meeting my sister (Em) and my parents at Canada Blooms and the Home Show. Before we left, Alexa did some painting, and she sat down and waited until one of us could help her wash her hands.

At Canada Blooms, there was a big activity area for the kids. Alexa explored the climbing tunnels, played some musical instruments, and made some crafts.

We only took the umbrella stroller, not thinking that we would need the double. As it turned out, Alexa got tired from all that walking and playing! Someone had had enough Home Show. She slept on me for about half an hour, then on her daddy for about half an hour.

There's one thing that's guaranteed to wake up a sleeping Alexa...

Ice cream from Grammie!

Alexa is great at sharing (even though Mummy and Daddy weren't really sure the baby should have ice cream, it was so sweet that we didn't stop it from happening).

On Sunday, Auntie Ange, Uncle Geoff, and Charlie and Sam came over to babysit the girls while Jevon and I went out for lunch and to a basketball game.

The kids and their babysitters extraordinaire went out for lunch together at a restaurant near our house, and Jevon and I went out for lunch downtown. We had the best basketball seats I have ever sat in, and I got a whole new perspective on the game. The Raptor was also back after a season-long injury (he's really a fantastic mascot), and the Raptors managed to pull a win out of their behinds. They played 3 periods of lacklustre basketball, and then turned it on for the fourth quarter, which was exciting to see.

Maybe the busy weekend was part of why I was so tired all week. This weekend has been nice, with some social activities, but not quite as busy.
