Retrospective - April highlights

Here's another blast from earlier this year.

Alexa and I celebrated a crisp, sunny April day with a trip to the zoo (one of many this spring). Alexa spent the first half of the trip darting between the macaques, the rhino, and the washrooms.

The next biggest highlight was the bench. Yay benches!

We spent quite a bit of time looking at this handsome fellow (soon to be moved from the Toronto Zoo). Alexa LOVED the "puppy".

We found a secluded area for our picnic lunch. Mia slept through nearly the whole trip.

Next up was some sunny weekend fun at our local dog park.

Douggie had just gotten a drastic haircut (I said "nice spring cut". The groomer heard "shave my dog"). This was one of the first days that he actually started running about again after hiding in his crate (in shame? cold? fear? misery?) for a few days.

Alexa LOVES hocky, and was happy to see that - even though the ice is gone - there were still a few people playing ball hockey at the local rink. Alexa had asked if she could play hockey, and we said: "sure, when you're bigger." That day, she told Jevon, "I bigger now. I play hockey." We went right out and bought her a hockey stick!

Also in April: all the van der Meer cousins had a sunny spring day together Port Perry.

Here's Mia with Sam, who has taken the idea that Alexa is Charlie's and Mia is his very seriously.

Some people have a coffee table book. Others have a coffee table Mia.

I couldn't get a shot of all of the cousins with light sabres all at once, even though it did happen (with the exception of Mia, who is too small to wield a light sabre with her hands and must move hers by Force alone).

The Force is strong in our family.

Heartfelt chats.

Sunshine cuddles. Mia was a sleepy girl that day!

What do you get when you have two pirates and a baby? I can't think of a punchline, but it sure is CUTE!
